I see my Mom always finding ways to help the community and that motivated me to be part of Sisters-Empowered. We are helping communities to find the resources that they need to increase their generational wealth, and generational knowledge, and their communities to become safe and prosperous.
I worked at a nonprofit as a recruiter and I went to various resource fairs which always seemed to have a theme, most of them being employment.
When the Covid-19 lockdown began in 2020, I began to wonder what would happen to the BIPOC community when the new norm, as it is called, began. We were already facing disparities and gaps, so I thought that we would bring opportunities to the communities one city and one state at a time. I reached out to friends who had businesses and asked if they would be interested in bringing their information and resources to an expo for the BIPOC community. We are bringing employment, housing, education, and recreation information and resources to the community so that they can find all they need in one
room. Hence the birth of Sisters-Empowered.
